About the School


The Wil Bowles Schools, founded in 1976, in Winter Park, Florida by Wil Bowles, CRB, GRI. has been in continuous operation at the same location since it was established. Wil holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Arts Degree, is a Licensed Real Estate Instructor and a Certified General Appraisal Instructor.

Wil Bowles, the President, and founder of the school, has taught real estate courses since 1972. First as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Florida and later as an instructor for the Rollins College Real Estate Program. He is the author of the RealExamTM computer program, a widely used and highly rated program for persons wishing to obtain a real estate license, and writes much of the educational materials used in the school.

The School is dedicated to quality education - the foundation of the Real Estate profession. School Instructors are personally selected by Wil and they must meet high standards of quality teaching and student involvement.

The basic goals of the Bowles Schools of Real Estate are to provide a broad background in the principles and legal aspects of real estate, and to thoroughly prepare the student for the state exam. All courses and instructors are licensed by the Florida Real Estate Commission.


Course Offerings


Principles and Practice I - The Salesperson License Course
This 63 hour course covers the principles and practices of real estate, and legal and ethical aspects of real estate. A program of "Guided Independent Study" is a unique option of the course that assists students on a more personal basis utilizing computer technology. Principles and Practice I I- The Broker's License Course
This is a 72 hour course in real estate financing, investment analysis, appraising and business management. It provides the basic knowledge for brokers to make the transition from salesperson to a broker. Completion of the salesperson course and one year experience is a prerequisite. Appraisal Courses - AB1-AB4 and Continuing Education
The offerings are the Registered Appraiser Course for entry into the field of appraising, the certified Residential Appraisal Courses and the continuing education requirements. The other appraisal courses are offered subject to demand. Contact the school office for detailed information and class schedules, and costs.


Post Education Courses
Real estate licensees must complete a Post Licensing Education Course prior to the first license renewal. These courses are offered prior to the renewal dates. The Salesperson Course is 45 classroom hours with a school exam and the brokers course is 60 hours with a school exam. There is no state exam for the post education courses. Continuing Education Courses
Every licensee, active or inactive must complete a 14 hour Continuing Education Course prior to each renewal period after the first renewal. The course is offered by correspondence with an open book exam or in the classroom with no examination required. Call the school for additional information.


School Policies


Classes are kept small to assure individual attention and to focus on providing the necessary information to meet the ever rising professional standards of the real estate profession.


Class Schedules


Schedules are flexible with evening classes held from 2 to 3 evenings per week, with and without weekend requirements. The one week concentrated course is intense, but very effective. The regular daily schedule is Monday through Sunday from 8:30 to 5:30. One week schedules are ideal for those out of state residents who want to obtain a Florida Real Estate License. School Services Offered


Application Assistance is provided for the state examination, including fingerprinting, photo and notary requirements. The school office hours are from 9:00am-6:00pm, Monday through Friday and 9:00am-Noon Saturday.


Specific Requirements by the State of Florida


Qualification: An applicant for licensure as a salesperson must be at least 18 years of age, a high school graduate or equivalent, honest, truthful, trustworthy, and of good character.

Education: Persons desiring to become licensed as a real estate salesperson must satisfactorily complete a 63 hour pre-licensing course prescribed by the Commission and designated as P&P I. This course is valid for 2 years after the date of successful course completion. Newly licensed salespersons are required to complete an additional 45 hours of post-licensing education prior to the first renewal in order to maintain a salesperson's license.

Examinations: Written examination is required of all applicants for licensure. Examinations are scheduled by the state usually on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. The examination must be taken within one year from the date the application was received by the Commission.

Notice to Attorneys: An attorney is not required to take the principles and practices course but must take the state examination for salesperson. Also attorneys must take the 45 hour post education but will not be required to take continuing education courses.

Mutual Recognition: Licenses from several states have entered into an agreement with Florida for mutual recognition of experience and education requirements. The states are currently: Georgia, Nebraska, Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and Oklahoma. Licensed persons from these states do not have to take the salesperson or broker's course to become licensed in Florida. They only have to take a 40 question state specific examination and then can practice in Florida. Current residents of Florida are not eligible.


RealExam TM


RealExamTM is an interactive teaching system designed to help students pass the Florida Real Estate Examination. Studies have shown that interactive learning has a better retention rate than other methods.

There are 20 areas of concentration in RealExamTM which corresponds to state requirements. The computer disk has three main parts for each chapter. First a summary of important concepts, next a glossary of key terms, and third an interactive multiple choice quiz to test your knowledge of the subject matter.

You can work on the subjects you choose. By repetition you can achieve an understanding of the material. If a question is answered incorrectly, it will display the correct answer and a clear explanation. Your grade is displayed at the end of each quiz. There are practice final exams, math and test taking strategies included.

After completing the program you are ready for the "RealExamTM " and a new career can await you. Hundreds of current licensees have used the disk with success.

System Requirements for RealExamTM : IBM compatible computer - 286 or higher, 3.5 floppy and hard drive.
